Mohan Limbikai Criticizes Modi Government’s Inaction on Kalasa Banduri and MGNAREGA Dues
Hubballi: In a scathing attack, Congress leader and former Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) Mohan Limbikai slammed the BJP-led Narendra Modi government for its perceived lack of action in initiating the Kalasa Banduri drinking water project.
Limbikai expressed his dissatisfaction during a press conference on Friday, highlighting the Union Government’s failure to take sufficient measures despite issuing a gazette notification for utilizing the Kalasa Banduri water in 2018.
Limbikai condemned the Union Government’s inaction, emphasizing that the state government had submitted a proper proposal to initiate the project. However, he alleged that the union government was providing inadequate reasons for delays, citing pending permission from the wildlife board as a primary obstacle.
Addressing the issue, Limbikai called upon Members of Parliament from Dharwad, Chikkodi, Gadag-Haveri, and Belagavi to exert pressure on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a swift resolution. He urged them to ensure that the long-pending project kicks off before the implementation of the model code of conduct.
Additionally, Mohan Limbikai accused the union government of neglecting its responsibility to release payments for workers under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNAREGA). According to Limbikai, Karnataka is owed Rs 702 crore in payments. He pointed out that unskilled laborers, who are entitled to a minimum of 100 days of work under the scheme, have only received a maximum of 55 days of work in the last five years.
